Decoupling control based on sliding mode controller for looper system

The looper system in hot strip mills has the features of nonlinearity, strong coupling and uncertainty. To improve the accuracy and quality of control, A new multivariable decoupling control system is proposed in this paper, which consists of diagonally matrix method-based decomposition compensatory unit and sliding mode controller (SMC). Simulation experiments for the conventional control system and the proposed control system were conducted using MATLAB/Simulink software, and simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed controllers compared with the conventional ones.
