Distributed Algorithm for Eigenvector and Participation Factor of Small Signal Stability in Power Systems

Based on the distributed analysis of essentially spontaneous oscillations in power systems (AESOPS) algorithm, a distributed computing method for the eigenvector and participation factors of small signal stability analysis is proposed. This approach can calculate the eigenvector and participation factors by areas, while only requires exchanging data of boundary nodes of each area during cooperative computation, which is suitable to the hierarchy structure in operation and management of the China’s power systems. This method has been tested on an IEEE 39-bus system and the results verify its rationality and validity.
