Bi-directional transmission of 8/spl times/10 Gb/s DPSK signals over 80 km of SMF-28 fiber using in-line semiconductor optical amplifier

An error-free DPSK DWDM bi-directional transmission of 8/spl times/10 Gb/s signals using an in-line SOA over 80 km SMF-28 with matching DCF is demonstrated. The results suggest promising application for bi-directional transmission in metro and access network with simple configuration and low cost.
