The role of advisory systems in control systems simulation and design

An advisory approach has been taken to the development of two prototype knowledge-based systems for the simulation and design of multi-input multi-output control systems. The Control System Simulation Adviser (CSS-Adviser) and the Control System Design Adviser (CSD Adviser) were developed on the belief that they were not to initiate any operation without the user's approval. However, during most of the simulation or design process, they can guide the user in making the necessary decisions, help him interpret results, and discover errors which may arise. >
