Synthesis and Characterization of Chitosan-Poly Vinyl Alcohol-Graphene Oxide Nanocomposites

Inthisarticle,nanocompositesbasedonChitosan(CS)/polyvinylalcohol(PVA)andgrapheneoxide (GO)nanoparticleswerepreparedbycastingthestableaqueousmixtureofthecomponentsinamold. The prepared nanocomposites were characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR),X-raydiffractions(XRD)andviscositymeasurement.ScanningElectronMicroscopy(SEM) resultsindicatedthattheGOwasuniformlydispersedinthepolymermatrix.Thewateruptakeability ofnanocompositesincreasedwithanincreasingthePVAcontent.While,theadditionofGOtoCS/ PVAleadtoadecreaseinthedegreeofwaterabsorption.Accordingtotherheologicalanalysisthe viscosityofthesamplesdecreasedwithincreasingtheGOweightpercentinCS/PVAmixture.
