VIEILLISSEMENT DE LA POPULATION ET ERGONOMIE DES INNOVATIONS TECHNOLOGIQUES DE COMMUNICATION DANS LA CONDUITE AUTOMOBILE [AGEING POPULATION AND ERGONOMICS OF INNOVATIVE COMMUNICATING TECHNOLOGIES IN DRIVING]

This paper discusses the results of a study that took an ergonomic approach regarding driver information system and elderly drivers. In regard to the design of these systems for older drivers, two main points are examined. Reducing the complexity of the driving task reduces the performance differential between young drivers and older driers. In addition, optimizing onboard systems by improving the legibility and intelligibility of information and simplifying dialogue, with particular reference tot he functional capabilities of older drivers, can also benefit the rest of the driving population.
