Electrical Performance of Aluminium base Photovoltaic (PV) Module with Different PV Materials

In present communication, the analysis of aluminium base PV module with five varieties of solar cell materials, viz., mono crystalline silicon (mono c-Si), poly crystalline silicon (p-Si), amorphous silicon (a-Si), Cadmium telluride (CdTe) and Copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS), is carried out. Performance is evaluated by writing the basic energy balance equations based on the mathematical modeling of the proposed PV module. The electrical energy and electrical efficiency of the module with different PV materials have been compared. For mathematical modeling, MATLAB 2018 has been used. From analysis, it has been observed that the mono c-Si PV module shows maximum electrical efficiency whereas a-Si PV module shows minimum electrical efficiency among the five considered PV modules. The electrical efficiency is slightly varied in p-Si PV module with temperature. The daily electrical energy for mono a-Si, p-Si, c-Si, CIGS and CdTe is found to be 0.401KWh, 0.985KWh, 1.046KWh, 0.642 KWh and 0.543KWh respectively.
