21 – Dynamic Analysis

Publisher Summary Dynamic analysis is another technique used to evaluate the capacity of a pile, although presently many engineers prefer to use static analysis. Dynamic analysis is based on pile-driving data. Many dynamic equations are available, but their accuracy has been debated. The most popular formulas are: Engineering News Formula, Danish Formula, and Hiley's Formula. Dynamic formulas are better suited for cohesion-less soils. In addition to neglecting the time-dependent aspect, pile dynamic formulas also ignore soil parameters and pile type.
