This paper presents a multiple objective model for the allocation

of teaching personnel in a secondary school in an effective and efficient manner. The model considers objectives of the school system administrators and the instructional staff as well as the operating constraints of the system. Goal programming is used as the methodo·· logy for dealing with the multiple, often conflicting, objectives and their priorities. One of the common areas of disagreement among administrators and teaching personnel is the assignment of teachers to classes.
