On the Impact of Channel Outage on the throughput of Fast Retrial Random Access for OFDMA Uplink

The fast retrial random access (FRRA) algorithm has been recently proposed for orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) uplink channels to improve the performance by taking advantage of multiple channels in the frequency domain. In this paper, we study the impact of channel outage on the throughput of FRRA algorithm through extended performance analysis taking into account the effects of both channel outage and packet collisions. Numerical examples show that the channel outage can provide a constructive effect on the throughput of FRRA algorithm.
