Response of Various Vibration Parameters to the Condition Monitoring of Ball Bearing Used in Centrifugal Pumps

Health monitoring of bearings is one of the important tasks in many industries. A number of techniques are used for bearing fault detection in which vibration based signal analysis is the most commonly used technique. The current work emphasizes the comparison of some of the parameters of vibration acceleration signal such as Peak to Peak amplitude, Peak Amplitude and RMS amplitude which are used in the detection of defects in bearings. These parameters are measured at various loads and speeds with simulated defect on bearing parts. The graphs plotted depicts that Peak to Peak amplitude gives better defect detectability whether it is on outer ring, inner ring or on the ball.
