SAR with ultra-high range resolution using synthetic bandwidth

Subsequent received pulses with different centre frequencies can be combined after A/D conversion to one single long response with very high bandwidth. This method can be described as synthetic bandwidth. R. T. Lord et al. (1997) present the processing steps which have to be implemented in the case of transmitted FM pulses with identical chirprate. However, relative motion between the radar and the target has not been considered in these papers. This paper presents two new methods to compress signals with synthetic bandwidth compensating for motion up to different grades.
