Women in Civil Engineering and Science: It's Time for Recognition and Promotion

If we forget or underestimate the value of women who are working hard for their careers in tough and effort-consuming disciplines such as civil engineering and science, then the competitiveness of the U.S. construction industry in both the national and international arenas will advance at a slower rate. This paper takes a look at inevitable changes in the attractiveness of the engineering profession; studies societal help for working women in civil engineering and science; and attempts to raise what should be done in order to avoid the loss of experienced and advanced women from our ranks.
