No modern boiler can operate without proper automation. Firstly the safety of workers and equipment demands interlocks. Interlocks are safety devices that are used to prevent accidents caused by improper operation. In this chapter boiler controls are thoroughly discussed including the typical main controls. Measurements are necessary to be able to operate boilers. The chapter ends with discussion and details of typical measuring devices.
