Starting algorithm and performance of a PM DC brushless motor drive system with no position sensor

The fundamentals of starting are investigated, and the development of an algorithm based on such an understanding is reported. The proposed algorithm is simulated, working with a full-wave inverter-controlled permanent-magnet DC brushless (PMDCBL) motor drive system. The simulation flowchart and results are described. Experimental results validating the starting algorithm are provided.<<ETX>>
