Method and system for transmitting/receiving signal in a communication system

A method and a system for transmitting and receiving signals in a communication system are provided to minimize an increase in overheads and to extract band AMC(Adaptive Modulation and Coding) subchannel location/size information regardless of the ratio of multiple subchannel domains which are changed by a frame. In consideration of the CQI(Channel Quality Information) received from a mobile station, a base station allocates a portion of a frame as a band AMC subchannel domain and the other portion as a diversity subchannel domain(211). The base station allocates a MAP domain containing a MAP header part and a MAP body part in the diversity subchannel domain(213). The base station creates band AMC setup information, or information about the location and size of the band AMC subchannel domain, and maps the created band AMC setup information to the MAP header part(215). The base station maps all the diversity subchannel domain but the MAP domain with arbitrary data in the band AMC subchannel domain, creates a frame, and transmits the created frame to the mobile station in an FDM(Frequency Division Multiplexing) scheme(217).
