Energy Levels in 175Yb from Primary Transitions in the Thermal Neutron Capture Reaction

The energies and intensities of high energy gamma radiation from thermal neutron capture in an enriched sample of 174Yb have been determined by means of a Ge(Li) pair spectrometer. An internal reactor target has been used. A number of new primary gamma lines corresponding to transitions in 175Yb between the capture state and energy levels up to 2.2 MeV with low K-values have been observed. The neutron separation energy of 175Yb was found to be 5 822.6?0.5 keV.
