기존 사용후핵연료 슬릿팅 장치의 성능 개선

A slitting device which is separating the pellets and hulls from the spent nuclear fuel rod cuts was developed. This device plays an important role in slitting the fuel rod cut into 3 parts in the axial direction of the rod cut. When the rod cuts are slitting in the device installed in the hot cell, if the pellets escape from the device through operator's carelessness, the hot cell is contaminated by the pellets. High level radiation emitting from the pellets lead to affect negatively the other devices in the hot cell. In connection with that problem, the existing device was improved by a series of experiments, and renewed for having higher treating capacity of spent nuclear fuels. The renewed slitting device can treat 20 kgHM/batch at a time, and employed in a scale of pilot or commercial plant for the process of nuclear fuel cycle in the future.
