CONTROL AND COMMAND OF BIOTECHNOLOGICAL PROCESSES USING A FLEXIBLE APPLICATION DEVELOPED IN LAB VIEW

Abstract H. mediterranei is an extreme haloplylic archaeon producing extracellular polysaccharides with special properties. For the rigorous command and control of the bioprocess, a new control and command system was developed using the programming environment LabVIEW. The system was called ‚Biolab” and allows the regulation of temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen with very good results, the application reacting fast at the biosystem changes. The feeding function allows the maintaining of various substrate concentrations for long time and can be used for helping to find the optimal cultivation conditions for biomass or polysaccharide production.
