ERS-1 studies at the Department of Oceanography from Space

The Department of Oceanography from Space at Institut Francais de Recherche pour l'Exploitation de la Mer (IFREMER) was established in 1991 just before the launch of the first European Research Satellite ERS-1. It encompasses a research team (The Laboratory of Oceanography from Space) and a French Processing and Archiving Facility, the French PAF, for the ERS data also known as Centre ERS d'Archivage et de Traitement (CERSAT). The work of the two research groups of the Laboratory of Oceanography from Space, dealing with atmosphere-ocean interaction and sea ice, is described and the future objectives are presented.<<ETX>>
