Using Xenix for the real time control of automated equipment for vehicle component test

One of the areas to benefit from advancing technology is clutch cover testing and setting. In order to maintain a technological lead, a range of clutch test machines using computer control was conceived. The innovation was to make use of a substantial commercial operating system for the control, namely the Unix derivative, Xenix. The operation of a clutch cover finger bending machine using computer control, and running under the Xenix operating system is considered in this paper.
