Experimental scheme for analyzing the dynamic behavior of electroacoustic transducers

Methods for determining dynamc properties of acoustic sources have received little attention in the literature. This paper describes the development and verification of a computer‐aided experimental procedure for obtaining four parameters that characterize the dynamic behavior of electroacoustic transducers. This technique, herein called the ’’two‐load’’ method, is first demonstrated on a simple electrical circuit. The reader is then introduced to the more difficult problem of applying the two‐load method to an actual transducer. For this application, a small electroacoustic transducer, commonly used as a hearing‐aid receiver, is employed. Essentially, the two‐load method consists of applying two widely different acoustic loads to the transducer in questions and measuring, in turn, the response of the transducer to each of these loads. Practical application of this method is complicated by the fact that some laboratory instruments introduce inherent amplitude and phase distortion which msut be accounted f...
