Solution of the Generalized Nonlinear Boussinesq Equation Using Homotopy Perturbation and Variational Iteration Methods

In this article, He's homotopy perturbation and variational iteration methods are applied to solve generalized nonlinear Boussinesq equations which were introduced by Boussinesq to describe the propagation of long waves in shallow water. The paper attempts to illustrate the capabilities and widerange applications of the both methods for solving nonlinear problems. Comparison of the obtained results with the exact solution is made to assess the advantages and accuracy.
