Development of calibration systems for measuring total reduced sulfur and sulfur dioxide in ambient concentrations in the parts per billion range.

A calibration system tested by the Pulp and Paper Research Institute of Canada for monitoring total reduced sulfur and SO/sub 2/ in the 0.1 to 100 ppB concentration range uses permeation tubes with an exponential dilution flask, a flame photometric detector, and a solid NaHCO/sub 3/ filter to separate SO/sub 2/ from reduced sulfur compounds. Results show that the system works effectively to achieve continuous calibration and monitoring in this concentration range.
