Secure Optical Internet: Attack detection and prevention mechanism

Optical Internet has become the main conduit for all types of virtually sharing communications around the world as it continues its phenomenal growth in traffic volumes and reaches using dedicated optical networks. To support bursty traffic on the Internet efficiently, Optical Burst Switching (OBS) is proposed as a way to streamline both protocol and hardware in building the future generation Optical Internet. By leveraging the attractive properties of optical burst switching and at the same time, taking into account its security. In this paper, identifies that the OBS node in an Optical Internet is suffering from the new-fangled security threat named as Burst Hijacking Attack, which causes the authentication of data and denial of service. In addition, this paper dealt with the novel solution for the same using the ns2 simulator with modified nOBS patch for simulation and verification of the security parameters.
