A SECURITY GUARD ROBOT WHICH PATROLS USING MAP INFORMATION

The authors have been researching about a security guard robot to use in real world, and already have produced a prototype model for an experiment and an evaluation. This paper describes a latest prototype model which has a vehicle guidance system with an environmental map and a route map to patrol t he a rea to be guarded and is improved in some functions for security purposes such as a security sensor. When this robot is working as a security guard, it patrols the a rea in a building through the predefined route or the one produced by the route-map generation module which has the nap of the area. If the sensors find a human body, the robot tries to give a warning him. When a fire is detected, the robot approaches the fire and tries to extinguish it.
