In this communication, two major issues in developing accurate pliysiological system models using the Wiener series technique are discussed. The issues are addressed by developing new mathematical and experimental techniques tliat are demonstrated to allow accurate modeling of a portion of U1e vertebrate visual system. Specifically. Uie signal transformation from incident light intensity (input) to intracellulru horizontal ccll (I-IC) voltage (output) in Uie tiger salamander retina is investigated under different states of light adaptation.
