A Parallel Processing Approach to Bridge Planning

This paper presents a mode of computer processing in planning and design of bridges which provides flexibility in searching, comparing, evaluation and selecting available data from the project environment and potential design alternatives. The computer program is written in A Programming Language (APL) and is suitable for structuring and manipulating the basic data. The subroutines in the program can accept and manipulate arrays, and express them in semi-graphic form. The input and output can be handled in conversational mode on time sharing systems.
