An Intelligent Decision Support System for Aircraft Landing Based on the Runway Surface

This paper presents a decision support system based on fuzzy logic as assistance for aircraft pilots of Boeing 747-100. The designed Fuzzy Logic Control model in the MATLAB concentrates on analysis of the external data, which are received from radar, Global Positioning System and various sensors. The purpose of the research is to reduce the amount of accidents due to aircraft landing assistance system and speed analysis of Boeing 747-100. To avoid an aviation accident, the landing speed of aircraft, the braking force, the rolling resistance, distance to obstacles and runway length are taken in to consideration. As a result of fuzzy logic model based on Mamdani Fuzzy Inference System the aircraft landing assistance provides the output data of acceptable braking force and stopping distance.
