Pediatrician finds challenges in Chicago practice

Medicine in Chicago takes on a grand scope. We have six medical schools, a large, but antiquated, county hospital and a bureaucratic board of health. Many of the country9s most prestigious medical organizations including the Academy, the American Medical Association, the American Hospital Association and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations have their headquarters in Chicago or nearby suburbs. It is said that 25 percent of all doctors trained in the United States spend some part of their careers studying or working in Chicago.
