A novel model to support OGC Web Services semantic search using OWL-S

To facilitate interoperability and sharing of geospatial data, OWSes have been increasingly adopted to describe scientific data. Interoperable OWS can facilitate the integration of different scientific application services. However, the OWS required by users is difficult to be found and utilized from a large number of OWSes because the OWSes have no clear semantic knowledge in their service data or capability description file. Focusing on semantic search of distributed OWS resource, we propose a mapping model to implement conversion from the description information of OWS capability file to the corresponding tags value of the OWL-S service profile, which is used to support OWS semantic search of relevant resources. A science application of geospatial service query is used as an example to demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed model. The result shows that the proposed method can improve recall and precision clearly in an intelligent manner comparing with keyword-base search.
