Aerial Turning Chases

A brief review is first given of earlier published results on aerial turning chases, including: vehicle modelling in so-called “energy” approximation, formulation as a differential game with horizontal-plane kinematics simplified to turn-angle difference, capture criteria, a sufficient condition for capture, and a necessary condition for capture in an extended-duration chase. The computation of families of solutions is then discussed with emphasis on trajectory pairs defining the boundary in the space of initial states separating successful pursuit from successful evasion. Some computational results for an example are presented.
