UTILISING MICRO CREDIT BY SELF HELP GROUPS AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO ERODE DISTRICT OF TAMILNADU

Due to the development of new policies, programmes and even projects, the status of women has totally been changed as they provide assistance to the low income women. This concern for low-income women’s needs has coincided historically with recognition of their important role in development. Self Help Group is playing a very important role in the process of financial inclusion and women empowerment. Micro credit has played a catalyst role in organizing these women into Self Help Groups. The present study aimed to know the utilizing micro credit by self help groups and women empowerment in Erode district. Empowerment of women has been recognized as a central issue in determining countries like India, women have been discriminated by the society. But now SHGs have provided a forum to express her views, participation in decision making and interaction with each other with the help of micro credit.
