Wideband circular polarized cross bow tie antenna with balun integration for X band communication

Wide band cross bow tie (CBT) antenna with circular polarization (CP) and good gain operating at X band has been presented for satellite communication. Impedance transition from imbalanced 50 ohms to balanced 100 ohms is carried out by using exponential tapered microstrip line. Geometry modification of CBT for getting CP property is proposed in this work. Proposed compact, circular polarized cross bow tie antenna showed constant impedance with S11 lower than -10dB throughout X band with broadside gain of 3db. 3dB axial ratio bandwidth is found to be 12 %.
