Analysis of shaft torsional vibration in inverter-fed induction motor drive systems

Analytical methods for steady-state shaft torsional vibration in inverter-fed induction motor drive systems which include modal analysis, the concept of fatigue, and torsional vibration criteria are described. The proposed method is simple, and its accuracy is verified by simulation and experimental results. With this method, the drive system can be evaluated for potential risks by a relatively simple and inexpensive procedure. In particular, this method is useful when the natural frequency range of the drive system can be moved outside the speed range by changing system components.<<ETX>>
