Adaptive Control of a Fermentation Process

Abstract This paper proposes an indirect adaptive control scheme for a fermentation process. Assuming that the process is described by the Monod's model, a discrete-time model is obtained, which is linear in the parameters. A recursive identification of the process is presented in detail for time-varying parameters. A pole placement control is proposed as well as its corresponding indirect adaptive control. A comparative study of the application of adaptive control is presented in detail.
