Nonlinear Modelling of Induction Motor Drives for Nonlinear Sensorless Control Purposes

Abstract The paper deals with nonlinear modelling of induction motor drives for nonlinear sensorless control purposes. Induction motor drives are known as complex non-linear systems in which time-varying parameters entail an additional difficulty for control purposes. Based on the fact that induction motor model can be significantly simplified if one applies the d-q Park transformation and a field orientation technique, different nonlinear model structures are investigated and discussed. Each model merits and drawbacks are pointed out through this paper. Nonlinear observer-based state variable estimation techniques for sensorless control purposes are also discussed, from the theoritical point of view.
