An improved fog-degraded image clearness algorithm

This paper presents an improved algorithm for fog-degraded image clearness,which is designed to improve the visibility of outdoor surveillance system in fog weather.Image enhancement algorithm was considered and a moving mask-based partially sub-block overlapped histogram equalization algorithm was used to realize fog-degraded images clearness in every local region.The proposed algorithm can overcome the time-consuming drawback.Experimental results show that the improved algorithm can efficiently enhance the contrast of fog-degraded images and obtain satisfactory visual effects.
