Simulating Model of UWB DAA device for Compatibility Studies

Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology has many merits but potential interference with existing or future wireless systems using the same and nearby band [1]. Although the FCC is allowing UWB systems to operate on an unlicensed basis from 3.1 ~ 10.6 GHz at power spectral density of -41.3 dBm/MHz, some frequency bands overlap with WiMax band in Europe [2]. Recently, Electronic Communications Committee (ECC) reports about the technical requirements for UWB detect and avoid (DAA) device [3]. So, the demand for simulation model of UWB DAA is increasing for the evaluation of the effect on interference between wireless systems. In this paper, we proposed the simulating model based on Monte-Carlo of UWB DAA device for compatibility analysis with mobile WiMax system. We show that the DAA function may reduce the interference probability in not small degree through the simulation and the interference probability depends on a function of the radius and number of the UWB device.
