CHAPTER 13 – Readouts and Related Devices

For handling primary element signals and the variables necessary to correct flow from flowing to base conditions, secondary systems are a part of any measurement installation. These elements are divided into three main categories: mechanical, pnuematic, and electronic. These all have applications in flow measurements. Most related devices have accuracy in the general range of full scale. Computers can develop the complete volume calculation, print appropriate hard copy, and feed a central control or computer centre with the complete accounting procedures. They provide realtime operation and control information for metering systems. To maintain accurate measurements, pressure transducers are calibrated on a routine basis. Many different methods have been approved and used in the gas industry to sample natural gas with varying success.
