In this paper, a practical design methodology for a new configuration of a three-phase fully-resonant DC-DC power converter, employing an LCC-type tank circuit with a capacitive output filter is proposed. The newly developed topology has several advantages including operation in zero voltage switching (ZVS) mode, suitability for high-power high-frequency high-voltage applications, voltage boosting capability, narrow control frequency range and reduced component size and cost. The design procedure involves sine-wave approximation for the waveforms and only fundamental components are considered. This allows a simple, yet accurate, analysis in the frequency domain. Based on this analysis, a design procedure for the proposed power converter is developed which gives a clear insight into design compromises and component selection. A design example is given.
