Akinetic mutism caused by bilateral anterior cerebral tuberculous obliterative arteritis

Akinetic mutism constitutes a well-defined clinical entity characterized by unresponsiveness with the appearance of alertness. This syndrome occurs in association with a variety of neuroatonomic lesions. We report a patient in whom akinetic mutism was caused by bilateral anterior cerebral artery occlusions due to tuberculous arteritis
