These guidelines have been reviewed over the course of the past 4 years since their publication (Full Text—J Am Coll Cardiol 1998;31:1175-1209; Executive Summary—Circulation 1998;97:1325-1335). This update is based on the most significant advances for implantation of cardiac pacemakers and antiarrhythmia devices that have been published during that time frame.
