Dynamic observations during tensile deformation of molybdenum in the high voltage electron microscope

AbstractA double tilting straining stage has been designed which enables dynamic observations to be recorded during straining in the HVEM. In-situ tensile experiments have been carried out on single crystals of molybdenum and various dislocation interactions have been recorded. The straining stage is described and a selection of the dynamic observations is discussed. The dynamic observations highlight the importance of the difference in mobility of the screw and edge dislocation in both dislocation multiplication and dislocation interaction.
