MONTGOMERY COUNTY (MD) MICROCOMPUTER SYSTEM INTERFACES WITH CENTRAL COMPUTERIZED TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEM. SESSION 4

The Montgomery County, Maryland, Division of Traffic Engineering has been operating a real time traffic responsive computerized signal system since 1980. The computerized system has grown from an original ten intersection system to a system with 100 signals on-line as of May 1984. This is an ongoing expansion project that will computerize the over 400 County-maintained signals in Montgomery County over the next few years. To complement the system and make the most efficient use of its capabilities, the County is procuring a multi-user, multi-tasking microcomputer system that will directly interface with the signal system computer.
