Parallel Multigrid in the Simulation of Metal Flow

Parallel multigrid solutions for the steel flow of a high technology casting method are presented. The twin-roller production of strip steel states a multi-disciplinary problem combining the flow of the liquid steel (casting) and the mechanical deformation of the solidified steel (rolling). Simulation of this coupled problem requires extremely fast solution of the fluid flow in general domains. Parallel performance and geometrical flexibility of L i SS are demonstrated to show the ability of L i SS to fulfill these requirements.
