Query by image content and information mining

Modern communication systems are managing huge volumes of data. The field of remote sensing (RS) data dissemination and interpretation is one of the most demanding. For the new generation of high resolution sensors the volume of data increases drastically. The diversification of applications and of the user's interest require new concepts for data access and interpretation. The main problems encountered in the design of such systems are data and information representation, coding and understanding, and the adaptation to the user conjecture. The key issue is the augmentation of the data with meaning, to take into consideration the model of user's understanding.
