Agenesis of the corpus callosum with interhemispheric cyst, associated with aberrant cortical sulci and without underlying cortical dysplasia

We report on two cases of prenatal diagnosis of agenesis of the corpus callosum (ACC) with interhemispheric cyst (IHC) associated with aberrant cortical sulci adjacent to the cystic structure, and without any underlying cortical dysplasia on pathological examination. In the first case (Figure 1), a 29-year-old woman was referred to our institution at 24 weeks’ gestation owing to a cystic lesion involving the midline with a lack of identified corpus callosum. Neurosonography confirmed complete ACC associated with IHC, with a mass effect predominantly on the left hemisphere. Careful analysis demonstrated abnormal sulci on the inner border of this hemisphere. Fetal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) confirmed the presence of these abnormal frontal and parietal sulci adjacent to the cystic structure without any other cerebral anomaly.
