Improved fuzzy linear programming model for structure designs

In this paper, an improved fuzzy linear programming (FLP) model is proposed for solving linear optimization problems with fuzzy or imprecise data. In the proposed model, non-membership functions are used instead of the usual membership functions to obtain the optimal solution. The formulation process of the proposed model is described and compared with existing FLP models which make use of membership functions. Two examples are presented to demonstrate the simplicity of converting a linear problem into the form of the proposed FLP model. Numerical results are the same as the available solutions which were obtained by using existing FLP model.
