Traffic Adaptive Duty Cycle MAC Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks

In this paper, we propose TA-MAC, a duty cycle MAC protocol with traffic adaptive for sensor networks. Through dynamically increasing extra transmission cycle in original basic cycle, TA-MAC can forward more packets in single cycle when traffic loads increase. The simulation results in ns-2 shows that our protocol achieves lower end-to-end delivery latency over S-MAC and the mean time, energy efficiency and end-to-end delivery ratio are enhanced.
